A.                     Issue

North Avenue construction west of Mayfair Road included changes to parking restrictions to accommodate design. Additionally, staff received a request to remove parking restrictions on the north side of North Avenue from 114^th Street to 115^th.

B.                     Background/Options 

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) reconstructed North Avenue from Mayfair Road to west of 116^th Street. The project work included a number of modifications that necessitated parking changes. The following parking signs were installed as part of the construction project.

•                     NO PARKING on the north side of North Avenue from Mayfair Road to 53-feet west of 114^th Street and from 115^th Street to 116^th Street.

•                     NO PARKING on the south side of North Avenue from Mayfair Road to 115^th Street.

Staff recommends changing the municipal code to match these signs as they exist post-construction.

In addition, parking is currently restricted with no parking from 3:00-6:00pm except Saturdays Sundays Holidays on the north side of North Avenue from 53-feet west of 114^th Street to 50-feet east of 115^th Street. The restriction is no longer necessary and staff received a resident request to eliminate it.  Staff recommends eliminating this parking restriction.

Minor expenses for signs to be accommodated with existing sign budget.

E.                     Recommendation

Direct staff to prepare an ordinance to prohibit parking on the north side of North Avenue from Mayfair Road to 53-feet west of 114^th Street and from 50-feet east of 115^th Street to 116^th Street, to remove parking restrictions on the north side of North Avenue from 53-feet west of 114^th Street to 50-feet east of 115^th Street, and to prohibit parking on the south side of North Avenue from Mayfair Road to 115^th Street.
