Request for approval of contract modification for Contract 25-01 Wisconsin Avenue & 70th Street Improvements
B. Background/Options
A contract modification has been prepared for the Wisconsin Avenue and 70th Street Improvements project under Contract 25-01, project No. #1025 & #4101.
This modification primarily addresses additional work associated with traffic signal, roadway, and storm sewer improvements at the intersection of 76th Street and Wisconsin Avenue and traffic signal improvements at the intersection of Glenview Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue.
WisDOT agreed to fund traffic signal improvements at both intersections, as the Wisconsin Avenue corridor is serving as an alternate route during their I-94 East construction project. New signal and intersection work at 76th Street was originally programmed in year 2027 as part of the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The work at Glenview Avenue was not in the CIP. Both projects were advanced to the fall 2025 construction season to take advantage of the ongoing construction activities along Wisconsin Avenue and have the corridor fully operational when WisDOT work on I-94 began in early 2026.
The total value of this contract modification is $691,778.47. The original contract amount was $4,497,094.69. Previous contract modifications for the project totaled $52,354.35, thus the revised contract total is $5,241,227.51

Funding for this contract modification is included in Project 1025. Future fund transfers may be necessary at the conclusion of all construction contracts associated with Project 1025. WisDOT contributed $330,000.00 toward this work.

Staff recommends approval of a contract modification in the amount of $691,778.47 for Contract 25-01.
