A. Issue
The Wauwatosa Lions Club, located at 7336 St. James Street, seeks a loading zone.
B. Background/Options
The Wauwatosa Lions Club seeks a loading zone on St. James Street to accommodate catering vehicles and other services for meetings, presentations, and gatherings. In addition to hosting meetings, the Lions Club rents the space out to other organizations for the hosting of events.
St. James Street is approximately 26-feet wide from curb face to curb face. The following outlines current nearby parking restrictions:
* Parking is prohibited along the north side of the 7300 block of St. James Street.
* Parking is prohibited for more than two hours between nine am and six pm, except on Sundays and legal holidays, on the south side of the 7300 block of St. James Street.
* Parking is prohibited for more than one hour between nine am and seven pm, except on Sundays and legal holidays, on the east side of 74th Street
* Parking is prohibited for more than two hours between nine am and six pm, except on Sundays and legal holidays, on the west side of 74th Street from 246-feet north of State Street to St. James Street. No prohibitions exist on the west side of 74th Street north of St. James Street.
Preliminary parking occupancy results show ample parking is available during the work day to accommodate loading and unloading of vehicles within existing parking areas. On weekday evenings, parking occupancy increases to 71% to 81% occupied, making space for loading and unloading more challenging to find.
