A.                     Issue

Request for award of Contract 25-19, Project 2025, 2025 Sidewalk Repair Program                     

 

 

B.                     Background/Options 

The 2025 sidewalk repair area, in general, is largely bounded by North Ave to the south, Mayfair Rd to the west, Capitol Dr to the north and Swan Blvd to the east. South of Center St, the project area extends east to N 88th St. The work includes 1,100+ squares, 9 curb ramp reconstructions at various locations.

We have examined the two bids submitted for Contract 25-19 / Project 2025, Concrete Sidewalk Repair on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024.  The contract consists of concrete walks, ADA curb ramps and drive approaches, including concrete curb and gutter and pavement replacement. The bids received are as follows:

Milwaukee General Construction                     $706,548.66

LaLonde Contractors, Inc.                                          $708,311.36

 

 

C.                     Strategic Plan (Area of Focus)

Priority 2: Public Safety, Goal 2 Proactively address pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular safety.

Priority 3: Infrastructure, Goal 2 Ensure the City’s infrastructure supports public health through multi-modal transportation and recreation opportunities.

 

 

D.                     Fiscal Impact

This project is a part of the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program

 

 

E.                     Recommendation

We recommend the award be made to Milwaukee General Construction and for their bid price of $706,548.66, this being the lowest and best bid.
