A. Issue
The Wauwatosa Health Department has the opportunity to again host the HEAR Wisconsin Mobile Audiology Clinic to the Civic Center parking lot on Monday May 5th, 2025 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm. In 2024 we were able to screen 25 individuals over a two-hour period and had another 10 people on our waiting list. The demand for low-cost audiology screening and referrals is great. This collaborative opportunity aligns with the City's Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) as data indicates that hearing loss in children causes delayed communication, language and social skills and in adults often leads to social isolation, loneliness and negatively impacts mental health. The Health Department will coordinate and promote the clinic being onsite as well as share resource information with visitors to the clinic.

HEAR Wisconsin helps children and adults identify and manage hearing loss through an innovative non-profit mobile audiology clinic. The state-of-the art clinic provides the community access to free hearing screenings and eliminates transportation, mobility and financial barriers to ensure that nobody is left without services. Up to 18 people per hour can be screened by their audiology technician. The service provides end-to-end hearing healthcare and provides those in need with free or low-cost assistive technology and services. The clinic is 36 feet in length, is wheelchair accessible and offers a temperature-controlled environment.
