A. Issue
Parking restrictions on Jackson Park Boulevard are no longer necessary

B. Background/Options
A resident on Jackson Park Boulevard contacted Engineering staff with a request to remove parking restrictions in from of their house. Staff reviewed existing ordinance and signs and finds that the parking restrictions are no longer necessary.

Parking is currently restricted by ordinance to 2-hour parking from 9:00am to 6:00pm except Sundays and holidays as follows:
* South side: From the west property line of 9043 Jackson Park Boulevard (on the east) to the west property line of 9123 Jackson Park Boulevard (on the west)
* North side: From the west property line of 9040 Jackson Park Boulevard (on the east) to the east property line of 9125 West North Avenue (on the west)

Note that 9043 Jackson Park Boulevard does not exist - the easternmost sign is currently located at the carriage walk to 9041 Jackson Park Boulevard. Additionally, 9125 West North Avenue no longer extends south to Jackson Park Boulevard - the westernmost sign is currently located on the east property line of 9130 Jackson Park Boulevard.

The signs on Jackson Park Boulevard likely date back to when Locker's Florist occupied what is now Colectivo (9125 North Avenue) and when Locker's Florist greenhouses occupied what is now two houses along Jackson Park Boulevard (9124 Jackson Park and 9130 Jackson Park).

Staff recommends a 90-day trial to remove the parking restrictions on Jackson Park Boulevard. In addition to making it easier for residents to park in front of their homes, on-street parking helps to calm traffic speeds.
