A. Issue
Traffic signal strikes in the northwest corner of the Harwood Avenue and Glenview Avenue/Glenview Place intersection.
B. Background/Options
The traffic signals in the northwest corner of Harwood Avenue and Glenview Place have been struck by trucks turning right from Glenview Place. DPW operations staff count four strikes in the corner since January 1, 2025. The traffic signal equipment is old, difficult to repair, and will not be fully replaced until the WIS 181 project anticipated in Year 2030/2031.
Staff recommends prohibiting trucks from turning right from the north leg of Glenview Place to the west leg of Harwood Avenue. Impacted trucks can continue straight south to IH 94 via WIS 181.

C. Strategic Plan (Area of Focus)
Priority 2: Public Safety, Goal 2. Proactively address pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular safety
D. Fiscal Impact
Minor expense for sign installation. Existing sign budget will accommodate expense.
E. Recommendation
Direct staff to prepare an ordinance to prohibit trucks from turning right from the north leg of Glenview Place to the west leg of Harwood Avenue.
