A. Issue
WE Energies is in need of an easement to provide enhanced electrical service to the Fire Training Grounds located behind the Department of Public Works facility at 11100 W. Walnut Road.
B. Background/Options
The Fire Department operates a fire training center immediately north of the City Garage. The Fire Department has worked with a local electrical contractor to obtain donated time and materials to add additional electrical access points for the various needs of their department during training operations. This also requires an updated main service line from WE Energies and in order to complete that work WE Energies requires an easement for their work to occur. Because the easement will only service the City’s needs we would be able to abandon the easement and service should that need arise at some future date. City staff will finalize technical review of the legal description prior to signatures if approval is granted by the Board of Public Works and Common Council.

D. Fiscal Impact
There is no fee paid to the City for the easement as it will only service City needs. The cost for the service upgrade will be paid by the Fire Department’s budget.
E. Recommendation
Approval of the attached Underground Distribution Easement, subject to technical corrections, from the City of Wauwatosa, to the Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WE Energies) for the installation of an upgraded electrical service to City owned property located at 11100 W. Walnut Road.
