Operational Updates
A. Pinelawn update
• Use of force incident - May 2024 - D.A. decision and Administrative review complete, all officers involved were cleared of any wrong doing by the D.A. and the PD in an internal review
B. Crime trends update
• MV thefts are down (20 lower than last year at this time)
• Numerous apprehensions have occurred over the last several months thanks to the Patrol Bureau’s work
• Flock camera system on roadways supports preventative policing - officers are able to intercept stolen or dangerous autos entering the city and stop them before new crimes are committed. The city council has been very supportive in financial assistance for this new technology
C. 6-month view on succession planning
• Captain Gabrish retires March 2025
• He will be replaced by Lt. Gierach, named from the most recent Captain’s process. Chief MacGillis will present the recent process to the PFC in October.
• Sgt. Pavlik was named to be next Lt. in March 2025 - from the last PFC approved process
• Officer Leeman is next on list to become next Sergeant, March of 2025 - from the last PFC approved process
D. Crisis and Assessment Response Team (CART) Officer starting with County Behavioral Health on 1/1/2025
• Officer is starting with County BHD on 1/1/25 - this is a dedicated Officer to work with a dedicated county Social Worker to handle mental health calls and emergency mental health situations
