Request for award of contract 24-43 Washington Highlands Railings Replacement Project
B. Background/Options
The project is the replacement of pedestrian railings on 3 of the bridges in the Washington Highlands Subdivision. The bridges are located on Revere Avenue, Washington Circle, and Upper Parkway. The work includes removal of existing railings, concrete surface repair, and placement of new steel decorative railings. The Washington Highlands Subdivision Board approved the design of the decorative railings.
We have examined the bids submitted for Contract 24-43 / Project 2102, Washington Highlands Railings Replacement on Wednesday January 24, 2024. The bids received are as follows:
Janke General Contractors $155,528.00
Norcon Corporation $232,505.00
Highway Landscapers, Inc. $232,585.00
Zenith Tech, Inc. $287,695.00
C. Strategic Plan (Area of Focus)
Priority 2: Public Safety, Goal 2 - Proactively address pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular safety.
Priority 3: Infrastructure, Goal 2 - Ensure the City’s infrastructure supports public health through multi-modal transportation and recreation opportunities.
D. Fiscal Impact
Funds for the work are included in two project accounts. Project 2102, Washington Highlands Railings, and Project 2224, Bridge Spot Repair, both have sufficient funds to cover the bid amount.
E. Recommendation
Recommend the award be made to Janke General Contractors at and for their bid price of $155,528.00 this being the lowest and best bid.
