Construction of the new park continues with September shaping up to be a busy month. As of this writing mass grading is complete, playground equipment is being installed, and concrete is being poured. Landscape is also underway with topsoil import and hardscape installation.
At this time staff is requesting that the Park Board recommend a name for the new park. Staff will take the Board’s recommendation to the Common Council for final consideration. The City’s tourism department worked with a marketing consultant to develop a list of three recommended names for the park. Presented for the Board’s consideration are the following: Firefly Grove, Wauwatosa Woods, and Westwood Park.
The City’s tourism department believes that Firefly Grove and Wauwatosa Woods are the strongest of the 3 names, particularly from a communications and marketing perspective.
