A.                     Issue

Award of Contract 24-01, W Potter Road and N 109th Street Utilities and Paving

 

B.                     Background/Options 

The W Potter Rd & N 109th St Utilities & Paving area, in general, is largely bounded by Wisconsin Avenue to the south, 113th St to the west, Potter Road to the north and Mayfair Rd/STH 100 to the east. North of Potter Road, the project area extends north to Underwood Creek and includes storm sewer construction as well as Oak Leaf Trail paving.

 

We have examined the 5 bids submitted for Contract 24-01 / Project 1024 & 5022, W Potter Rd & N 109th St Utilities & Paving on Thursday, January 25th, 2024.  The contract consists of storm sewer construction, water main construction, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, asphalt repaving and reconstruction including grading, concrete curb and gutter replacement, asphalt pavement, porous asphalt, pavement markings, and street lighting. The bids received are as follows:

Globe Contractors, Inc.                                          $11,958,018.40

PTS Contractors, Inc.                                          $12,386,000.00

Vinton Construction Company                     $12,522,418.25

Mid City Corporation                                          $19,990,989.68

 

C.                     Strategic Plan (Area of Focus)

Priority 3: Infrastructure, Goal 1: Optimize infrastructure to handle 100-year weather events. Goal 2 Ensure the City’s infrastructure supports public health through multi-modal transportation and recreation opportunities.

 

D.                     Fiscal Impact

This project is a part of the 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program.

 

E.                     Recommendation

We recommend the award be made to Dorner, Inc. and for their bid price of $11,639,353.60, this being the lowest and best bid.
