Background
Research Park Signage: Since its creation, Milwaukee County Research Park’s signage has been regulated differently than the commercial district that surrounds it. This difference has made it confusing for developers and tenants as they plan for signage or change signage within the Park. This request would make the Park’s signage regulations consistent with the City’s, with a level of review still required through the Park’s Architectural Review Committee. Milwaukee County Research Park agrees with the recommended change.
Planned Unit Development (PUD) Signage: Approval of specific sign plans for PUDs is difficult to administer and manage. It also allows for inconsistency with signage throughout the City.
This request is to amend Chapter 15.14.190 to specify that signage in a Planned Unit Development (PUD) will be controlled by the base district sign provisions and no longer allow specific sign provisions adopted through PUD approvals. A related code zoning code amendment is being introduced at the June Plan Commission meeting that will be reviewed by the Community Affairs in late July. The Chapter 15.14.190 amendment will return to Community Affairs the same night for final review.
