A.                     Issue

Consideration of award of Contract 25-01 / Project 1025 & 4101, Wisconsin Avenue & 70th Street Improvements to Globe Contractors Inc., in the amount $4,497,094.69

 

B.                     Background/Options 

The project consists of sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, roadway and pedestrian facilities, street lighting, communications, and traffic signal improvements within the project limits.  Project limits on Wisconsin Avenue are N. 68th Street to N. 72nd Street.  Project limits on N. 70th Street are Wisconsin Avenue to W. Blue Mound Road. The work is planned for the 2025 construction season.  

We have examined the three (3) bids submitted for Contract 25-01 / Project 1025 & 4101, Wisconsin Avenue & 70th Street Improvements on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.  The bids received are as follows:

 

Globe Contractors, Inc.                                                               $4,497,094.69

Vinton Construction Company                                          $4,607,466.49

Dorner Inc.                                                                                    $5,024,831.02

 

 

C.                     Strategic Plan (Area of Focus)

Priority 2: Public Safety, Goal 2 - Proactively address pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular safety.

Priority 3: Infrastructure, Goal 1 - Optimize infrastructure to handle 100-year storm events.

Priority 3: Infrastructure, Goal 2 - Ensure the City’s infrastructure supports public health through multi-modal transportation and recreation opportunities.

 

D.                     Fiscal Impact

The project is included in the approved 2025-2029 Capital Budget.

 

 

E.                     Recommendation

Staff recommends the award be made to Globe Contractors, Inc. and for their bid price of $4,497,094.69, this being the lowest and best bid.
