A. Issue
Engineering is requesting approval of plans and specifications for City Contract 24-43.
B. Background/Options
Engineering has prepared the attached plans and specifications for the replacement of pedestrian railings on 3 of the bridges in the Washington Highlands Subdivision. The bridges are located on Revere Avenue, Washington Circle, and Upper Parkway. The work includes removal of existing railings, concrete surface repair, and placement of new steel decorative railings. The Washington Highlands Subdivision Board approved the design of the decorative railings.
C. Strategic Plan (Area of Focus)
Priority 2: Public Safety, Goal 2 - Proactively address pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular safety.
Priority 3: Infrastructure, Goal 2 - Ensure the City’s infrastructure supports public health through multi-modal transportation and recreation opportunities.
D. Fiscal Impact
Project is included in the approved 2023 Capital Budget.
E. Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the plans and specifications and authorization be granted to the City Clerk to advertise for bids on Contract 24-43, Washington Highlands Railings Replacement.
